山水

山水 (shan shui) is a traditional Chinese painting that literally translates to “mountain water”. These landscape paintings typically center mystical mountain range and are understood to be immortal lands.

The essence of shan shui is not realism, but instead the feeling of nature in one’s heart. By modeling this style of painting, we experience a further separation from the reality of nature. The model’s obfuscation mimics the strong fog of imperfect memory and human fallibility.
