Catabolic

Catabolic is a musical and visual arts experience. The music in Catabolic is hypnotic and ambient, transporting the listener to an altered state while the visual aspect invites viewers to get lost in the stream of images breaking down before their eyes. 

I use a neural network to generate initial chord progressions and arrange the songs by reconstructing the scores and replacing instruments, adding new layers, samples, and effects. The videos are interpolated images, also the product of machine learning. The interpolation feels organic: simultaneous destruction and creation that is transfixing and at times, uncomfortable. 

Combining the sensory elements of sound and sight in one experience, Catabolic immerses the viewer so fully that one feels emotionally present, but physically distant.
